The Knee Mortar is not for your Knee

A Japanese SNLF (Special Naval Landing Force) mortar man sights in on his next target with his infamous "Knee" Mortar (50mm grenade launcher).
The Knee Mortar was so called because of its unique base design that was curved rather than flat.  Some unfortunate Allied soldiers and Marines mistakenly thought the mortar was designed to rest upon the upper leg to fire. Those that tried this were rewarded with at best a painful bruise and at worst a shattered leg bone.
This SNLF sailor is a plastic piece from Warlord Games that I painted in 2018.
