Never Mess with an Irate Gaia

Call her Gaia, Gaea, Terra, or Earth Mother, just don't piss her off.
Born with the origin of the Universe, Gaia, was the primordial mother of the Earth and creation.

Through her liaisons with various powerful gods, including Ouranos (Uranus), Pontos (Pontus) and Tartarus she birthed many powerful gods, titans, giants, monsters, kings, animals and tribes of mortals. (see "Theoi Greek Mythology" GAEA (Gaia) - Greek Goddess of the Earth (Roman Terra, Tellus) (theoi.com) for a complex list of her offspring)
The Earth Mother can be loving and caring but, NOT TODAY.
Here she is in her anger mode where she is fed up with the stupidities of those who abuse her World
Today she is in her anger mode where she is fed up with the stupidities of those who abuse her World
Looking for the source of her anger she notes a human, "Puny mortal How dare you challenge GAIA!" It looks like another painful experience for Hiktos Nuluk the cursed hoplite.
Gaia is a huge 150mm (6 in) plastic piece from Mystic Battles that I finished today.

Aussies on Patrol

In the dense Jungles of the South Pacific an Aussie patrol csouts ahead of the main body.
A necessary duty made all the more deadly by the expert  jungle fighting skill of their Japenese foes, especially in the early years of the Pacific campaign.
These are plastic pieces I painted earlier this month. And yes, taking a PIAT on a scouting patrol would be a foolish choice for this kind of patrol, but what the heck, anything goes in "Bolt Action' ha... ha... ha.

Red Coats on the March

From the War pf the Spanish Succession (1701-1714) to the Seven Years War (1756-1763), the British Red Coats were in almost constant conflit during the first half of the 18th century.
Scottish Higland's, European fields, North American Forests, Plains of India and the far-flung lands of the British Empire all saw the Red Coats shed their blood for the King.
I painted these plastic Red Coats early this month.

The Always Reliable Vickers .303 Machine Gun

Since 1912, the .303 Vickers Medium Machine Gun has be the Backbone of support fire for the bloody infantry. Firing up to 500 rounds a minute to ranges beyond 2000 m (2187+ yards) the Vickers was well suited for the battlefields of Europe, Africa and the Pacific.
After stellar service in the Great War, it was no surprise that the beloved weapon continued to confront the Empires enemies in the Second Word War.
As well as the Korean war, and every British conflict between, until its final retirement in 1968.
This Vickers MMG team is all metal, that I built and painted earlier this month.

I Am the Giant ENCELADUS!

Fear my wrath oh you gods and mortals, for I am Enceladus! From my resting place under the volcano of Mt. Etna, I have been planning my revenge.
For I, Enceladus the giant, son of Gaia and Uranus will destroy you all,
especially my mortal enemy, Athena. For more on Athena see World Historyprof: Athena-Minerva
And I will start my war with this insignificant hoplite, Hiktos Nuluk.
Ah, says Hiktos, "the bigger you are the more this is going to hurt..."

Battle Suits Nippon Style

In jungles or on alien world. a good battle suit can mean the difference between victory or death.
Even forelite  Samuurai  warriors of Imperial Nippon.
Expanding the empire is a dangerous, violent and endless job that theses warriors are willing to give their lives, The Emperor expects nothing less.
These are metal pieces from "Konflikt 47" that I painted earlier this June.

Daemons Here, Daemons There, Daemons Everywhere

Being a 6th class Daemon has it perks, like not getting blamed when the good guys win.
Just don't let a 4th class daemon like Fgh Kll know your fooling around having fun..
oh, oh, guess we're in for it now.

These are plastic pieces I painted in 2015.

At Least We Have An Antitank Gun

The Shinhoto was an up gunned version of the Japanese Chi-Ha Medium Tank, even though the Chi-Ha cannon, at 57mm, was 10mm wider than that of the Shinhoto.  The Shinhoto''s gun was a high velocity antitank weapon vs the low 57mm of the Chi Ha's.
Shinhoto's were armed with a high velocity 47mm antitank gun and two 7.7 mm type 97 machine guns.
The Shinhoto was a desperate attempt by the Japanese to have a tank that could stop Allied armor.
But its weak protection of 33mm (1.3 inches) gave it little chance in a face-to-face meeting with any Allied medium tank.
The 47mm was most effective vs Allied light tanks like the M-3 Stuart. Yet with less than 940 total units in the Army, the Shinhoto was too little, too few and too late to have much of an influence on the outcome of the Pacific War.
Regardless of its weaknesses, the Japanese tankers consistently showed bravery in every engagement, no matter the odds.
This is a Plastic model I built and painted earlier this month. Check out World Historyprof: Saga of Two Chi-Ha Tanks for more info on how I worked on this tank and its dug in Chi Ha sister.

Charybdis-Ships Doom

A threat to unwary sailors, the sea monster Charybdis, was one of the most fearsome beasts of Greek mythos. As an offspring of Gaia and Poseidon, Charybdis was caught in a quarrel between Poseidon and Zeus. Zeus cursed her, dooming her to becoming a monster that created giant whirlpools tha suck in ships and crews to their doom. Charybdis and fellow sea monster Scylla worked in tandem to make the Straits of Messina a mortal danger to shipping.

This Charybdis is a large (over 130 mm wide) plastic game piece from Mystic Battles that I painted this week.

When You Can't Move, Dig In

I see you do you see me?
With poor armor and a low velocity cannon, the Chi-Ha tank was no match for allied medium tanks. A lack of spare parts and fuel added to the problem. A simple solution was to dig in and bury the main body of the tank, therefore reducing it vulnerability to allied firepower.

Saga of Two Chi-Ha Tanks

In the beginning we have two Chi-Ha tanks one a Shinhoto with a 47mm ATG and the outer a dug in basic Chi-Ha with a 57mm low velocity gun.

Primer on both and the dug in pit base built around the Chi Ha 57mm. 3 Sci-Fi Samurai Battle Suits are to the left.
The dug out is now covered in sand terrain and primed as are the battle suits.
Camouflage has been applied to both tanks and the dugout given its first dry brushing
Overhead shot of the above AFV's. The battel suits are given their first metal dry brushing.

The finished AFV's will be shown on these two locations:
