Thoth x 4

Thoth is a powerful Egyptian god. Here are four lesser priests or are they?
Who is to say what a god can or can not do...such as making himself into four avatars to influence his followers four times as fast.
These four Thoth's and their baboons are plastic pieces from the Rise of Mologh that I pained in July.

Thoth the Recorder of Lives

Thoth the scribe of the gods, creator of magic, writing, laws, religion, science and the recorder of the results of the judgement of the dead souls attempting to enter Osiris' realm of  the Afterlife.
With the head of an Ibis or Baboon, his sacred animals, Thoth accomplished his duties with honesty and truth.
As one of the Major Egyptian Gods, he was critical to the maintenance of the Universe.
Thoth and his baboon are plastic pieces from the Rise of Mologh that I pained in July. They are part of a set of 4 that will be presented in a later post.

The Majestic Griffin

The Griffin, part lion part eagle all powerful creature in the war against evil.
Majestic, intelligent and a symbol of good, the Griffin has been a part of the myths of Ancient Egypt, Middle East and Europe for over 3000 years.
By the Middle Ages, the Griffin had become a favorite symbol of the heraldry of the nobility, and both the Christian and Islamic religions for its symbolism as sign of virtue as a guardian against evil.
This Griffin is a plastic piece from Monolith, Mystic Battles that I painted for Tom in June.

Sobek the Powerful

Sobek the Powerful, Egyptian Crocodile God of the Nile-Leader of Armies. One of the greatest, and oldest of the Ancient Egyptian gods, Sobek was worshiped until Christianity replaced the old gods during the later Roman and early Eastern Roman Empires.
As ruler of the Nile River he was in control of the floods that brought fertile soils to grow the crops that made Egypt powerful. His fearful nature, as a crocodile, was balanced by the protection he provided from evil, and evil magic users.

Sobek is a large plastic piece I painted from "The World of Smog, Rise of Moloch" game.

Bewarned, the God Horus...He is Watching You

For thousands of years the majestic God Horus has watched over the Great Egyptian Kingdom.
This ancient statue of Horus has weathered the centuries with less color than once graced his vestige yet he continues his eternal guard.
Those who bring evil into his realm need to beware, Horus is all ways watching.
Horus is a 1980's heavy metal piece from Grenadier.  The Arab gunner to his left is a 28mm piece and gives a good idea of the size of Horus.

Skirmishers Egyptain Style

Emerging from the lush greenery of the Nile onto the desert sands, a unit of Egyptian skirmishers precede the main force of the Pharaoh's army.
By their very nature, skirmishers, were light armed and armored troops, here with shield and javelin, designed for fast deployment and harassment duties.  When the main infantry force arrived the skirmishers would often retire to protect the flanks of the slower more heavily armored forces.
These metal, 25mm pieces are some of the 1970's, designed figures from Minifig.
