The Raid

As ancient as war itself is the raid on an enemies supply lines.
Here we have an example of such a raid between the Teutonic Knight's and Lithuanian forces in the late 14th century.
This was actually a play test for some new skirmishing rules I'm working on. The Lithuanian men-at-arms were able to beat of the Teutonic Knights but a cost of over half their men.

These are all plastic pieces from the Joan of Arc game that I painted in 2024.

The Merchant and the Peasant

John Shepard try's to make a trade for some of his wool with merchant Conrad d' Andreville.
John's wool is of low quality, and he is willing to take whatever d' Andreville offers.
The deal made, d' Andreville shows where the peasant is to deliver the wool.
With the trad completed, d' Andreville calls for his hounds and prepares to leave the village.
These are 15mm plastic pieces I painted in December.

"The Peasants are Revolting-Again"

The cry goes out, "down with the lords!" Yes, it is another of the endless revolts by the peasants when they lords become too overbearing. They usually fail, after causing destruction and death to both guilty and innocent. But occasionally they succeed, at least for a time, until a new ruling class takes over.
These are plastic pieces from Monolith that I painted earlier this year.

Here Come the Teutonic Knights

Charging into battle, this force of Teutonic Foot Knights know that their faith, armor and experience will lead them to victory in their wars of conquest in God's name-and the hope for loot and land.
These battle-hardened warriors are not above using brutal tactics to both defeat and cower their enemies, it's in God's name you know. The North-Eastern lands of Europe will face years of bloody wars in the last of the Teutonic religious crusades of the 15th century that will eventually end in defeat for the Teutonic Knights, but for now its war for God, Glory and Gold!
These are 15mm plastic pieces I painted this month.

Some Huts are Better Than Others

A couple of 15mm scale peasant hut from Monoliths Joan of Arc Teutonic Knights game.
The walls behind the huts are also from the same game set.
As usual for Monolith the etail on their pieces are excellent.
These are all plastic pieces.

Ready Your Crossbows

"On my mark, latch your bow strings," cries the sargent. As his men ready their crossbows.

Evil Must be Searched Out and DESTROYED!

Padre Blogas Traiškyti knows he must destroy evil where ever it is hiding. Armed with his faith, Holy Book and a big staff, he will take on any challenge.
His search hes lead him through battles, ruined cities and the halls of power. He cares not, evil must be destroyed!
Wait...what was that over there...
Nothing this time, but the search continues.

Padre Blogas Traiškyti is a metal piece from Games Workshop.  I painted him in the late 1990's.

Wine-the Soldiers True Friend

Milano Guardia, Capitano Piccolo Granduomo checks the sentries watching over the wine supply for his garrison.

The wine is of crucial importance to the Capitano as he realizes that while an army marches on its stomach it's the wine that makes the march bearable.  The guards will be held accountable for every drop, the Capitano makes that point very clear.
These are all plastic pieces from the older Warhammer Empire line. I painted them (a total of thirteen men) in the late 1990's.

Knights of a Feather

Two swan knights, Sir Svane and his cousin Sir Schwan stand guard in the ruined outbuilding of a country manor (destroyed in a serf uprising).

Armored in the latest plate designs and armed with halberds and swords, they feel confident to handle the foul peasants that revolted against their lord and master.

These two knights are 25mm metal pieces from Minifig that I painted in the late 1970's.

Introducing the Marvelous Multiplying Renaissance Knights

One knight in Imperial armor stands guard.

Double the guard is the command now given.

Four are so much better than two.

Doubled again-hey wait-what's that guy in silver doing here?

A full squad of ten in (all correct in gold now) is ready for the lords commands.

Two squads of ten are even better (that silver guy finally found the right unit).

What the heck three squads are even better and can easily handle any situation.

Every company must have an officer in charge.

See I'm fully armored front and back.

The entire company stands ready for review.

These are Ral Partha 25mm metal pieces. I painted them up in the late 1970's when I needed a palace guard for Medieval Battles, D&D and later the original core of my Warhammer Imperial Army (eventually swapped out by larger - and better painted- GW pieces).

Longbows Englands Equalizer of the 100 Years War

In battle after battle through the 100 Years War, the deadly longbow of the English Army bested the knights of France. Thousands of French knights met their doom attacking these archers of the English king.

Shooting more than ten arrows a minute, the English & Welsh archers were able to send clouds of arrows into the French. The shorter ranged crossbows of the French meant that the crossbowmen were often decimated well before coming into shooting range of their own weapons.

The are plastic Warhammer figures from Tom's Army that I painted in the early 2000's

Knights of the Realm

A troop of knights ready to do thir lords bidding.
