Rocking Brothers

The Rock Giant Brothers, Gresplt and Smshmm aim a couple of calling rocks at some interlopers.
 

They know that making a solid impression on uninvited pests is the best way to discourage future visits.

An added advantage is the good work out rock aimed tossing gives, really you don't get abbs like theirs by sitting petrified by the mountain views.

These are metal pieces I painted over 45 years ago for my D & D campaigns. They might be from Ral Partha, or maybe not.

Plant Feeding-Jungle Style

Littered around the base of Homo Comedererubi are the personal affects of those who have feed the plant.

Like the unfortunate Ali Mentación who almost succeeded in escaping Homo Comedererubi's feeding time.

Well maybe the next explorer will be a little more observant of the debris field before they try to inspect this most unusual (and aggressive) entity.

So exploders beware, you have been warned, so please don't feed the plants.

Blue & Grey (Butternut Actually) at it Again

 

A Union Zouave faces off against a Rebel infantryman as the bloody War Between the States continues its path of destruction through the country. 

While the Union man is wearing the fancy French stye North African uniform, the Southerner is reduced to wearing home spun clothing dyed in "Butternut. With the lack of grey dye in the South, most of the soldiers of the Confederacy were reduced to using Butternut Dye for their uniforms. Butternut came from the crushed bark of trees and nut hulls, and when used on cotton clothing, gave a soft brown hue to the clothes.

While their uniforms vary greatly their weapons are basically the same, the .58 cal. muzzle loading rifled cap and ball musket. The muskets .58 cal. "Minie Ball" could bring death to a target hundreds of yards away. While many older as well as the latest repeating firearms were used in the war, the rifled muzzle loader continued to be the main infantry weapon of both sides.

These are old 1970's metal models that I recently found in one of my bits boxes.

Pink Medusa Strikes Again

Two Orcs and a Dwarf have become the latest victim's of the deadly glaze of the of the fearsome "Pink Medusa." Unlike her "sisters," PM fines grey stone so "boooring," so she adds a tint of pinke to brighten up her victim's deaths.

The victims are metal (Orc's are Grenadier the Dwarf is Ral Partha) and Medusa (Monolith) is plastic I painted them this month and her in 2020.

Velociraptors On Your Trail-Be Very Afraid

With the scent of their prey in their nostrils, a mating pair of Velociraptors start the hunt.

The are near perfect predators armed with razor sharp teeth and claws that are great for rendering their prey. But their real killing weapons are their vicious talons on their feet that can disembowel their victims with one swift slice.
 

As the latest sage of the Dragon Lady's Dragon Bones (DB) experiments (see World Historyprof: Mystery of the Dragon Bones-The Dragon Lady for more on the brilliant & deadly Dragon Lady), these Velociraptors have reemerged into the Pulp World of 1930'2 as a new danger to explorers and adventurers.

These Velociraptors are plastic pieces I painted this week.

The nemesis of Evil Chaos Lords and creatures, Sir Dstr-Evl knows only one way to treat them-destroy them utterly.
 

The powerful knight holds his deepest loathing for his doppelganger enemy-

Sir Hhtsuu, Champion of Chaos.

Some day they will meet and good will triumph over evil!

Till then, Sir Dstr-Evl, will hunt down other evil creatures.

Both Sir Dstr-Evl  and Sir Hhtsuu are plastic pieces I recently painted.

World War One via Old Style Board game

Decided to pull out one my old (1975) Strategy & Tactics Folio games " World War 1 1914-1918" that I hadn't played in 40 years. Its a basic and fast game in the old paper unit's hex system.

As now days I mostly use figures like this 1970's era Minifig Great War Imperial Austro-Hungarian officer vs the 2/3 paper Austro-Hungarian Army.

The turn is Summer 1915, the Western and Italian fronts are static bloodbaths. Serbia is slowly being pushed by the Austro-Hungarian Armies. Only in the East is the battle fluid as Imperial Germany has out maneuvered the Tsar's armies while the Austro-Hungarians pin critical forces in the South.

By Winter 1916, Russia has been crushed and is out of the war (a year better than what really happened. Serbia is also over run and Romania is on the ropes. The British rush aid to Italy to keep them in the war While France dredges the bottom of the barrel to get the most troops into the field to try to break the Wesrern front deadlock.

 Summer 1917, the American are coming, but it is too little too late as the Central Powers have built up to much a lead in points. While the ANZC's are slowly forcing the Turks back from the coast, Romania will be eliminated in the next turn and there is not enough time to move fresh forces through Greece to attack Austro-Hungary and Bulgaria. The Great War Ends in September 1917 with victory for the Central Powers. 

The Allies realizes too late the danger posed by the Germans vs Russian and used too many Russian armies to try to crush the Austro-Hungarians. It might have worked with British or French help, but for too long they were fixated with the fight on the western front were they held territory at the cost of army strength. The Germans on the other hand decided to hold in the West and smash Russia ASAP. It worked this time... 

I repainted the metal Austo-Hungarian officer just for this report.

Beta Ray Bill-Stands for Truth, Justice and the Asgardian Way!

 

A survivor of the catastrophe the nearly exterminated the Korbinite Race, Beta Ray Bill became their champion who guided the survivors as they searched a hostile universe for a safe haven.

By luck or fate, Beta Ray Bill led his people into Asgardian Space. After meeting and challenging Thor to a due, Odin and Thor say Beta Ray Bill as a kindred soul. Odin rewarded the brave hero with a magic hammer similar to that of Thor.

To honor his benefactors, Bata Rey Bill has adopted Asgardian style clothing and armor. With his newfound friends, and power, Beta Ray Bill has dedicated his life to helping any in need, requires of their origins, nationality or race.

Beta Ray Bill is a plastic kit I put together and painted earlier this month.

Every Seaport Should Have A Lighthouse

Decided to paint up this old lighthouse we found at a Swap Meet. The idea is to make it look old and warn, this is the first stage.

And here it is finished, now for a game table big enough for it.

Ulik likes to Rock Em and Sock Em

As the strongest and most aggressive of the Rock Trolls, Ulik is the go-to troll for the King of the Rock Trolls.

His powerful knuckle dusters are made from the same unique metals as Thor's hammer Mjolnir.

As a rock troll , his loyalty is too his own people not the other denizens of the World or even the Universe.

Do not mistake his strength as a mask covering low intelligence for Ulik is as smart as any of his troll brothers.

Ulik is a plastic piece from Atomic Mass Games that I put together and painted earlier this month.
 

Los Lobos and the Civitas Crystallini Adventure Part-Six Victors, Losers & Revelations

Los Lobos survivors- Dr.Vaquero, Dr. Sirrandon, Dr. Jon, Carlos. Dr. Jonsen & Pedro.

Key facts of the report to the Escuela Los Lobos Executive Campaign Committee on the Los Lobos Rescue Expedition.

 1/Dr, Linda Vaquero and her aide Dr. Suzzann Sirrandon were rescued and are positive no other survivors are alive from the first expedition. The two doctors believed they survived due to the need for intelligent female "breeding stock" by the Hidden Empire.  They were extremely lucky to be on the surface when Dr. Jon's party arrived as they were cleaning up after providing food for the exterior guards. (Refer to sub-page 233.05 for a full report on the doctors' experiences and observations of the "Hidden Novum Imperium Romanum.")

2/ Four members of the Jons' Party died, Gaston, Julien, Pierre & Robbie. Suitable compensation will be made to their families and full education benefits to their offspring who will be encouraged to join the Los Lobos Organization when ready. Suitable rewards and promotions have been made to the survivors, especially to Doctors Vaquero, Sirrandon and Jons.

3/ As no evidence from intelligence suggests that either the Imperial Chinese nor Imperial Nippon know of the Hidden Novum Imperium Romanum. It is recommended by this Committee that this knowledge continue to be limited a need-to-know basis. 

4/ As the Novum Imperium Romanum has some technological advances that may be of value to the "Escuela Los Lobos Grand Plan", it is recommended that a new expedition be fitted out to make contact with the ruler of Novum Imperium Romanum.

Sick with fever ads snake venom, Ren wanders the jungle, eventually floating down a river on a log where he was found by an Imperial Nippon Navy river patrol boat.

Southeast Asia Command report to Imperial HQ on the patrol Seven-16A under command the Rikugun-Shoi Izu Takomi.  After a through interrogation of Itto Kaishi Ren, now deceased, it appears that the patrol met and destroyed a patrol of Imperial Chinese Ototta soldiers. That point is clear, then Ren became raving about snakes and metal men destroying the patrol. We believe that these ravings are due to fever and the lasting effects of snake venom. Unfortunately, as a lowly Itto Kaishi, Ren was unable to identify the location of the battle with the Chinese, it is somewhere in a thousand square kilometers of contested territory. It is recommended that stronger patrols be sent into the entire contested area to clear it of the Ototta presence.

Novum Imperium Romanum

The secret of the underground, hidden New Roman Empire of Counsel Julius Augusts XXIII may have leaked, out or possibly it can be contained by "Agents Provocateurs." Only time will tell...the story continues. Note, as both Shangwei An Yen and  Rikugun-Shoi Izu Takomi survived and are currently held by the Novum Imperium Romanum, perhaps they may be of some use in this matter.
