F4F Wildcat-USN's Early War Fighter

Flights of F4F Wildcats were all the USN/USMC had to hold off the excellent Japanese Zero in the early years of the War in the Pacific.
While the agile Zero was by far the more maneuverable of the two fighters, the solidly built, well armored Wildcat with self-sealing fuel tanks was able to take far more damage.
As the war progressed and the American pilots became more experienced at taking advantage of the Wildcats strengths vs the Zeros weaknesses slowly changed the battle for control of the air.
By the end of the war Allied Wildcats (it was used by the British and Canadian Naval Air forces as well) had earn a 7 to 1 kill ration vs the Japanese.

These are small (the base is only 20mm wide) plastic pieces from a long lost (50 years at least) plastic USN Essex Aircraft Carrier model kit. I just found them this week in an old box and repurposed them for "Victory at Sea" Naval Rules. I made sea bases, used push pin as stands and pained in a beat up three tone paint scheme, dark blue top, blue gray sides and gray bottom.

Speedy Red Racer

Speedy "Lucky Eleven " Red Racer is often used in clandestine missions in the post Great War World.
Pilot Jazz "Lightning" Bolts is the man called upon when the delivery (no matter what the cargo) absolutely has to get through.
"Lucky Eleven" is a plastic kit of the famous Bee Gee 1932,
air speed record holder at just under 300 mph.

My History is made in the Sky

Jazz "Lightning" Bolts has been flying since the the first days of powered flight. In his time, he has served in more air services then he can remember. His life has been and always will be flying.

I live on the ground but my Life is in the Air

Raul l'Faucon, senior aviator adventurer, has devoted his life to the exploration and exploitation of the skies. Armed with his trusty .455 Webley (a gift from a grateful RAF pilot), he stands ready to take to the skies for his next adventure.

An ace fighter pilot in the Great War, he has become a free lance aviator due to a disagreement with his superiors in the military (his radical new ideas on the use of air power were seen as to avant guard and expensive).

Revanche

Revanche (Revenge) is the private plane of Verte Vipere (see "Verte Vipere-Revenge for the helpless") that she uses in her fight against evil.

The high powered engine can reach speeds in excess of 200 mph. Synchronized twin .30 cal Browning machine guns are mounted above the engine.

While Revanche also carries four fifty pound bombs on her wings her main killing weapon is the powerful Zarkoff Death Ray.

The Zarkoff Death Ray is conveniently mounted in front of the pilots seat. It fires a deadly bolt of energy up to 1/4 mile.

Revanche is a 1/72 scale plastic model of the US Army Air Corps P6 Hawk biplane that I modified into this monoplane.
