Only Royal Appointees Can Ride Quaassbeasts

As leader of the Altobarbbaro Clan, Talask BssU has a royal writ from Emperor Sansh Tilican CMLIX allowing him to ride one of the sacred Quaassbeasts when he leads his warriors. 

This Quaassbeast is the famous "Blddspltr," pride of the emperor's herd. For in battle Blldsptr and Talask BssU have never known defeat. For with personal combat a staple of life on Mars, Talask BssU & Blddspltr have had lots of combat victories to boast about.

After centuries of combat, the Martian and Beast are so attuned to each other that virtually fight as one creature. allowing them to dispose of their enemies with ease. With such a fearsome reputation, the simple threat of Talask BssU issuing a one-on-one challenge has made enemies flee before them.

Talask BssU & Blddspltr are metal pieces that I painted in the 1980's, for my "Space 1889" Campaigns.

 

Emperor of Mars "Sansh Tilican CMLIX "

Being the most famous leader of the rulers of Mars is no easy task for Emperor Sansh Tilican CMLIX. As if leading the longest dynasty, at nine+ millennia, in the civilized history of the planet, isn't hard enough, he is also the Highest Priest of the Pantheon of the Gods of Mars. 

Religious ceremonies are both common and essential, such as todays sacred rites of "Aquae d' Vitae."

With his Major Domo Tars Daj, and his guard of deadly Alesmilitius Minimapugnator's,  Emperor Sansh Tilican CMLIX sets out to perform the rites.

Mars is a dry planet, yet this sacred glade is full of lush grass which is virtually unknown on the rest of the planet.

 Emperor Sansh Tilican CMLIX has reached the Sacrum et Magna Lacuna and begins the vital and laborious religious rites that will provide water for a dry world.

The rites completed, Emperor Sansh Tilican CMLIX heads back to his palace to rest before this afternoon rites of "Crescente Cibum Plantae," an Emperors work is never done.

Mars is a Warriors World

Mars is not known as the planet of war without reason.

For from the dawn of civilization, the men of Mars have been warriors first and everything else second.
 

Thes mountain warriors of the Altobarbbaro Clan are famous for their battle frenzy where they will often throw down their weapons to take on their enemies in brutal hand to hand fighting. For they glory in the sense of smashing the bodies of theiur foes with their bare fists! 

Thes are metal pieces I painted in the late 1980's, for my Space 1889 campaigns.

The Emperors Guard of Mars

When humans landed on Mars in 1889, they found many kingdoms, city states, "Barbarian" tribes and one "Emperor of Mars." While the Emperor Sansh Tilican CMLIX is not the most powerful ruler on the planet, he is the "EMPEROR."
 

As Emperor, Sansh Tilican CMLIX has at his command the most famous and elitest military unit on the planet-"The Emperors Guard."

Few in number, but high in experience, social status and dedication, the Emperors Guard maintains the glory of the vast Imperial Armies of the distant past.

While the weapons and armor appear archaic, they are actual made of immensely strong metals (the formula for which was lost centuries in the past) that can slice through steel like butter and even resist most Earth designed firearms.

These features, coupled with their mystic, enhance their value in combat way beyond their small numbers.

When the horn of The Emperors Guard sounds, Martians can or will ignore....

Denizens of Mars

Mars, the Red Planet has a history tens of thousands of years long, but now much of the civilization has degraded to the more base and brutal natures. Here are two of the more vicious the feared four-armed Ocher-Warrior (a more uncivilized version of the Dead Oceans Green Martians) and one of the Mudslime Men of the underground river's regions. While not as brutal a fighter as the Ocher-Warrior, the touch of the Mudslime man causes infection that will eventually turn in the victim into another Mudslime man.

These are old metal castings that I painted back in the 1970's originally for D&D and later my John Carter campaigns on 19th century Mars.

Yes, Mars has Life, Am I Not a Captain of the Martian Royal Guard

Captain G'tntn C'ppr'Pnts of the Royal Guard is known for his strict adherence to protocol. Those who fail to meet his high standards feel a swift foot to the backsides.
 

His position is all the more important now that Terrans have started to show interest in his planet.

He and his troops will need to eve ever more vigilant to protects the Royal family. To Humans Mars is a dying world but to the captain and his warriors it is home with 50,000 years of culture and worth defending.

I found this old Ral Partha Space 1889 piece that I originally pained back in the '80's in need of touch up painting. Space 1889 with home rules, was a fun break from traditional Colonial Games and D&D.

Col. Bash is in Command...or Else

Colonel Imbad von Bash is not a man to be disobeyed lightly, as no one has ever lived to disobey him twice. As leader of BBB the elite mercenary air corps (Bash's Battling Basstards), his ruthless reputation has gathered him the most lucrative missions and the deadliest warriors to command.

Even though he is an expert marksman, Col. Bash prefers up close and messy hand to hand combat where he can smash don his enemies with his steam enhanced warhammer.

Col. Bash is a plastic piece I painted in 2015 for Steampunk/Space 1889 gaming.

Guardians of Mars

On patrol in the bad lands of the Cydonia Plains of Mars, a unit of the Royal Guardians of the Emperor Tardos Tkan projects his power.

Unit Commander Skar Unlak knows that every patrol is important and helps to keep the Empire secure.  All are metal pieces in 25mm scale.

Martian Musketeers...Fire

Mk'lan Drwee, Capitan of the 2nd Mk'laa Imperial Martian Musketeers, commands his troopers to fire his Emperors enemies.

Imperial Guard (of Mars) on Patrol

In the long nights of Mars, the Imperial Guard patrols the capitals less desirable streets to maintain the Emperors Peace. Few criminals will risk the Imperial wrath by assaulting his personal guard.

These are metal pieces from the Space 1889 game system and designed in the late 1980's, early 90's.

Mars Elites

On the dry sea beds of Mars three of the emperors elite shield gunners are ready to defend their planet from the alien colonial invaders from Earth.

In Space 1889 the colonial powers of Earth have move to claim the vast lands of Mars as colonial holdings.  These are the latest 25mm metal troopers I have painted that will join their comrades (some that I painted back in 1989).

Lady on the Run

On the run from hostile forces seems to be the constant pastime of Lady Eugene de Witton.

I'll Save You!

Always the protector of a woman in need, Major Jan De Ruyter challenges Uumotaak the Bold, Lord of the Kite Clan of Mars. Jan cares not that both Uumotaak and his weapons dwarf the human, he only knows that a woman needs his protection. All are 25mm netal pieces, Uumotaak and the major are designed by the old Game Designers Workshop in the 1980's for their "Temple of the Beastman." The "lady is a Ral Partha design from the same time period.

Engarde

Major Jan De Ruyter of the New Belgium Legion is an expert with the sword. Woe to those foolish enough to face his blade as he never shows mercy to any foe.

Two sections of KNIL (Royal Netherlands East Indies Army) stand ready to expand and protect the colonies of the Dutch Empire.

Bullyboy Robbertts is one of the meanest street thugs of London, he never uses any weapon but his fists.

Bullyboy Robbertts has taken to earning additional cash highering out his special skills throughout the Imperial colonies.
