Developed by the US Military in the early 1940's to give the infantryman the ability to tackle enemy armor, the 2.36 inch (60mm) Rocket Launcher M1 or "Bazooka" was a welcomed weapon. Effective against AFV's up to size of medium tanks the Bazooka was also very useful at taking out hard points like pillboxes and fortified positions, especially in the Pacific War. By late war the weapon needed an upgrade as its effectiveness against the largest and best armored enemy tanks had dropped considerably. By the Korean war the new 3.5 inch (88.9mm ) "Super Bazooka" had again given the power bloody infantry a weapon that tankers feared.
Side Note- the nickname Bazooka, came from US military personal (several lay claim to naming it) who remarked that the the weapon looked like on of the wild "Bazooka" musical instruments that noted musician Bob Burns was infamous for inventing and playing.
Both are plastic pieces from the Warlord Bolt Action Line that I painted in 2019.
