Bazooka-it's not just for killing AFV's

Need to pop a pillbox-send for the Bazooka. Although it was designed for killing armored fighting vehicles (AFV's), the Bazooka was also quite useful in taking out buildings, hard point defenses and pillboxes.
These US Marines are part of the elite pillbox killers developed for combat in the Pacific Island Hopping Campaign. In combination with flamethrowers and satchel charges armed infantry the Bazooka were the best way for the ground pounders to tackle the many strong points the Japanese erected on their island fortresses.
These Marines are Warlord Games plastic pieces I painted in 2021.

For the Glory of the Empire and the Sacred Emperor!

With a light tank for support, a squad of Imperial Japanese soldiers charge their enemy.
Following the flag is a long standing tradition for the soldiers of Nippon.
This one is emblazoned with patriotic sayings to further encourage the troops.
From North Chia to India to the islands of the South Pacific, this scene was duplicated
countless times in the name of the Empire and the god Emperor.
The soldiers are plastic pieces from Warlord Games that I painted this week. The light tank is actually a 20mm scale metal Corgi German MK IV F1 that I painted in 2016, in a Japanese color scheme to substitute for a Chi Ha tank.

Hounds on the Scent

Two hunting hounds have the scent of their next prey in the World of Mystic Battles.

These are plastic pieces from Monolith games.

Chaplain-Bringing Comfort to the Battlefield

Somewhere in the North Africa, US Army Chaplain Father Nearly, reads prayers for those in risk on the field of war. Be they Catholic, Protestant, Jewish or other denominations, the Military Chaplain tries to bring comfort to those under his care in need.
Chaplains  often risk their lives on the front line as bullets, bombs and other explosives make no distinction about the religion or noncombatant status of  these men of God.
This plastic piece from Warlord Games, is a conversion I made in 2020.

I made him in part to honor my late aunts older brother who was a Catholic Chaplain with the US Army at the Battle of the Bulge, where he lost seven of his ten toes, part of his soles and part of his heals to frostbite.  For the rest of his life he was allowed by his bishops to lead religious services wearing  tennis shoes as regular leather shoes were to painful for him. May Monsignor Daniel Keenan Rest in Peace for all the comfort he brought to those dead and dying in  that horrible Winter of1944.

I Will Pound You

With muscles to spare, this Greek fighter is ready to pound his opponents into the ground with his fists or a handy rock!
Scared for hundreds of battles, the "Brute" is virtually immune from feeling pain.
The "Brute" is a plastic piece from Rise of Mologh that I painted in 2019.

Sherman 75 -Backbone of the Western Allies Armor Corps

Meet Lilly, a M4A2 Sherman 75mm tank with extra applique armor over vital areas.
With tens of thousands of 75mm Sherman available through lend lease every major. Allied Army had thousand of them in their armor units.
A major advantage of the 75mm was its high explosive round (HE) that gave valuable support to the poor bloody infantry.
The model of Lilly has interchangeable commanders the above is British while below is American.

Lilly is a plastic model from Warlord that I built and painted in 2019.

Forward Observer-FO for short

Lieutenant Samuel "Eagle-Eyes" Beagels, USMC artillery forward observer calls in the coordinates for a battery of 105's. Their target is an advancing force of Japanese in the early days of the Iwo Jima Campaign.
Be it for a quick artillery strike or a desperately need air strike, the FO was the brave man who called in the attack.
"Eagle-Eyes" Beagels is a plastic piece from Warlord Games I put together in 2019.

The Majestic Griffin

The Griffin, part lion part eagle all powerful creature in the war against evil.
Majestic, intelligent and a symbol of good, the Griffin has been a part of the myths of Ancient Egypt, Middle East and Europe for over 3000 years.
By the Middle Ages, the Griffin had become a favorite symbol of the heraldry of the nobility, and both the Christian and Islamic religions for its symbolism as sign of virtue as a guardian against evil.
This Griffin is a plastic piece from Monolith, Mystic Battles that I painted for Tom in June.

Got Ya-GRRR

Commander Grrr Bnsmshrr leader of the crack lizardman Blood Bowl International team is more than ready to give a crushing lizard hug to any opponent foolish enough to face him.
Skilled with ages of experience as demonstrated by his massive bulk and boney back scales (Lizardmen, like their reptile ancestors, continue to grow as long as they live), Commander Grrr Bnsmshrr is very good at breaking up his opponents line.
"Got Ya -GRRR" is his most feared battle cry!
Commander Grrr Bnsmshrr is a metal piece I painted in 2020, for Ricard's Lizardman Blood Bowl team.

Death in the Grass

A cobra can strike with blurring speed with venom strong enough to kill a bull elephant.
Little does Royal Navy Seaman "Hap" Harrping know that death is only a few steps behind him.
Will the cobra strike? Will Hap be able to do anything to prevent his demise? Can he fire his rifle in time? Or maybe the cobra has already used its venom on a previous strike on another unfortunate target-you decide.
