Bren Gun Will Travel

Although its official title was Universal Carrier, its popular name was the Bren Gun Carrier.

Armed with a large variety of weapons from antitank rifles to mortars and of course the Bren Gun light machinegun, the Universal Carriers saw action in every theater of the Second World War and many post war conflicts.

Over 57,000 were produced from 1939-1960. Its max armour of only 10 mm (.39 of an inch) could  withstand most rifle bullets, while its speed of 48 km/h (30 mph) and low silhouette allowed to crew quickly get out of trouble.

They could even tow light loads including small antitank guns.
