Strong Hearts Are Our Specialty

At the height of the Aztec (Mexica) Empire no position held greater status than that of high priest. Here are two, Cipac and Cectzin, who have just performed one of the most important rituals, removal of a human heart to feed the gods.

To the Aztecs nothing was more sacred than human life, so it followed that nothing was more suitable to keep the gods alive than human blood.

The greatest honor in the Empire was to be chosen as a human gift to keep the gods and the world safe.

These Aztec Priests are metal Grenadier pieces I painted back in the 1970's.
