Bugles Blow-China Marches

With bugles sending attack commands, these Chinese prepare to attack United Nations troops in North Korea.

Korea, 1950, China has intervened into the war over fear of a unfriendly united Korea under Western leadership.

The infiltration of hundreds of thousands of Chinese "volunteer" troops under the very noses of United Nations High Command was one of the turning points of a war that seemed virtually won to many. 

Perhaps it would be good as a commander to remember the old saying "never underestimate your enemies abilities," as overconfidence has lost many a battle and too many wars.

This platoon will soon see combat in one of the most brutal major conflicts of the post World War Two Era.

Beware the Manticore

Part bat, scorpion, lion and other beasts, the Manticore is all terror.

With a taste for human flesh, Manticores are a major danger to any human that falls into its path.

Even the most fearless of warriors would think twice before they tackle this horrible monster.

Really what person in their right mind would ever volunteer to face off with a Manticore...

oh yes, poor cursed "Brave Hiktos Nuluk-really has no choice does he.

Well maybe this time our hero will defeat this beastie the gods have sent to torture him...Nahhh that's not going to happen...poor guy.

This is the model with the its base coat of paint (note I have already started work on the wings). Decades ago, I used a spray primmer, now I hand paint everything on all my pieces.

The Manticore is a plastic piece from Mystic Battles, Hiktos is a 25mm metal piece from Ral Partha.

Desert Warriors 1942 Style

In the shimmering heat of the deserts of North Africa comes the feared Afrika Korps.

Some attempt to filter the sand through scarf masks.

As the war progresses the Afrika Korps become more and more adept at desert combat.

Any Allied commander that underestimated the Afrika Korps payed dearly for their shortsightedness.

Yet even great skill can not always overcome shortages in supplies and replacements for loses.

So as the war continues the battle stands at a balance point-punch and counter punch, till will tell the final winner.

Myrmidons-Greek Elites

The famed Myrmidon warriors were dedicated to fighting with Achilles against the warriors of Troy.

Fighting as an elite force, the loyal Myrmidons were famed for their actions in the Trojan War. 

These are plastic pieces from Mystic Battle that I painted this July.
 

Fu Manchu

The dreaded Dr. Fu Manchu, leader of countless criminal activities in the World of Smog cares little for the lives of his minions.

Such as the unfortunate Li Xiu, whose once stunning beauty was sacrificed for the goals of her "Master" Dr. Fu Manchu. Her burned face will forever remind her of the day he used her as an object lesson for his other minions.

Turning his back on those that displease him is a time honored tradition of the evil doctor.

Even Li Xiu's beautiful fan dance has little effect upon Fu Manchu when his mood is foul.

World War Two in Boxes

I have worked on the 700+ figures (plus another 105 that are not pictured) above since 2012, mostly in the last three years. They are a combination of metal and plastic 25mm to 28mm pieces from Pulp Figures, Wargames Foundry, Perry Miniatures and Warlord Games.  A big change from the World War II,  1/285 CinC size pieces I painted and played with in the 1970's &'80's. Aside from the Panzer III none of my Second World War tanks and other AFV's are in this post.
