Monsters, Monsters Everywhere

Brave Hoplite Hiktos Nuluk has found himself in a most unusual situation-surrounded by monster from the future.
Actually, facing off against a horrible beast, god or demi-god is very common for our poor cursed hoplite. (see World Historyprof: The Continued Adventures of Brave Hiktos Nuluk for his back story)  Engaged by four at a time seems a bit over kill.
Brave Hiktos Nuluk must battle the beasties Frankenstein's Monster and the Wolfman...
the Undead Imhotep Mummy...
and Undead Count Dracula the vampire...what's a brave hoplite to do!

The "Horror Monsters" are a special pack from Crisis Protocol by Atomic Mass Games, I painted them within the last month. Brave Hiktos Nuluk, who I use to show the size of creatures, is a metal 25mm piece I painted in the 1970's.

Dracula some stages of painting.

Glued and ready for priming.
I hand prime all my pieces. In Drac's case I used a charcoal black.
Next comes the first dry brushing of metal, an antique gold in this case.

Unfortunately, the photos of the painting steps of red, black, grey and white where lost when I got my new phone.
Here Dracula is ready for highlights.
Now I am ready for the game board, my opponents will tremble in the power of the King of the Night.
This Dracula is a plastic piece from Atomic Mass Games for Crisis Protocol. I finished him yesterday.

Warrior Princess Zolan Durunsdagtr

In the Dwarf Kingdoms, it is not only the males who wear the armored pants in the family and go to war. Those females who choose can readily join in the conflicts against the kingdoms fores.
One such battle maid is Princess Zolan Durunsdagtr, whose excellent armor and weapons have been used countless times to prove her worth in battle. She proudly wears the scars she has gained leading her forces in defense of her king and kin. Woe to those who underestimate her skill in battle for she knows that fierce warrior skills are not limited to the males of the species.
Princess Zolan is a large plastic piece I painted this week from Godtear.

The Raid

As ancient as war itself is the raid on an enemies supply lines.
Here we have an example of such a raid between the Teutonic Knight's and Lithuanian forces in the late 14th century.
This was actually a play test for some new skirmishing rules I'm working on. The Lithuanian men-at-arms were able to beat of the Teutonic Knights but a cost of over half their men.

These are all plastic pieces from the Joan of Arc game that I painted in 2024.

The Merchant and the Peasant

John Shepard try's to make a trade for some of his wool with merchant Conrad d' Andreville.
John's wool is of low quality, and he is willing to take whatever d' Andreville offers.
The deal made, d' Andreville shows where the peasant is to deliver the wool.
With the trad completed, d' Andreville calls for his hounds and prepares to leave the village.
These are 15mm plastic pieces I painted in December.

Cold War Nato Armor

A small selection of British and US tanks, the bottom four are British Centurions. The next six are M-60's.
The four light tanks to the right are M551 Sheridan's with the 152mm gun/launcher rather than a conventional cannon. To their rear are six M-60 A1's with four M-60 A2 "Starships" also armed with the 152mm gun/launcher.

These are metal 1/285 Micro GHQ Armor that I painted in 1977. I used to have a full armored division (mixed US and British Pieces-it was a wargame unit after all) of these fine beasties and had great fun throwing them into games against their Soviet West Pack foes in the late '70's. Alas those days are long gone as are most of the pieces that I gave away as I shifted my focus into World War II 1/285 scale using the old "Panzer War" rules.
