Eastern Front Russians

A squad of Russians with a light machinegun supports a Anti Tank Rifle (ATR) team .

These are plastic Russian pieces (and the other Russians published this month) are from Warlord Games, they come from the Soviet Army Starter Set Richard gave me for my Birthday in April.
 

Old Tar vs Locals

Seaman 1st, Cab Hotintrot stands ready with his trusty Martini Henry over a slight disagreement with the locals...

honestly, how was he to know that not only was the local beauty he was with was married, but married to the local chief as well!

A concerned band of the chiefs retainers is ready to make its unhappiness known very well on the person of said Seaman 1st Hotintrot.

The locals have taken the precaution to arm themselves with a variety of weapons.

The timely arrival of a heavily armed squad of Hotintrot's shipmates from the HMS Furious has made the locals reimagine their concerns and violence has been avoided this time...

Hotintrot is a metal piece from Foundry, the local are plastic from Warlord Games. All were painted in 2017.
 

Tropical Outpost

The rundown decrepit tropical outpost, so common a sight in the backwater sections of European colonial holdings.

Rattan wall rotted, wooden beams, rusted iron shutters all add to the felling of near hopeless isolation felt by many a European "commissioner" stationed here to represent the home government.

                                                        "Heart of Darkness" anyone.

Hopefully the askari behind the building is loyal, otherwise the commissioner is aiming in the wrong direction.

                                    These pieces can be used as one or two buildings

                                   Roof top space for fighting.

                             The figures are 28mm metal from Foundry.

                          I built both buildings in 2019.

World of Smog Spirits

"World of Smog-Rise of Mologh" is a miniature, Victorian-Alternative Universe, RPG board game I ran for the boys. These are some Spirts of the game master I painted up to menace the boys characters.

Zulu iNdluyengwe Warriors

A group of Zulu iNdluyengwe warriors march to might their kings enemies.

The greatest and most feared  19th century Southern African warrior nation were the Zulus. 

These members of the iNdluyengwe Regiment were proud and fearless warriors. 

 They were armed with the Assegai throwing spear, the shorter, and more deadly, Iklwa stabbing spear and the Knobkerrie warclub.

Each warrior was assigned to a regiment that was identified by the cow hide design.

Zulu warriors were trained to march fast over any type of terrain all the while barefoot.

Joint Forces Outpost vs Boxer Hoards Part1

1900 China, the Boxer Rebellion is in full swing and rumors are that Empress Cixi has allowed the Imperial Chinese Army to actively aid the Boxers. A joint force of allied European troops hold a critical outpost and await either attack or re-enforcement. The force is under the leadership of Captain Sydney Smythburns ( above to the right) detached from the 95th Highlanders. Under his command is a section of French sailors under Ensign Henri Reims,

a unit from the Hong Kong Regiment Sgt. Lee Chin commanding, Ensign Rupert B. Dethdellr's Royal Navy Nordfelt Machinegun Team,

         and a detachment of Sikhs under Subadar Imma Khan.

                The first boxers scout the outpost.

The Boxer Army includes four large unit of boxers with assorted hand weapons and unit of Imperial Tigermen with swords and shields and a unit of Imperial regulars with modern rifles. All are under the command of "General" Shi Yang.

Smythburns puts the French sailors in a forest on his right flank and forms a firing line with the rest of his force-Nordfelt in the middle. The General Shi''s Boxers go for a left flank and up the middle attack

CHARGE!

Contact between the Black Flags and the French!

At the cost of five casualties the first charge of the Black Flags is repulsed-barely.

Smythburns and the Hong Kong detachment take defensive positions in the ruins. Mean while, Ensign Riems' sailors pour deadly volley fire into the disordered Black Flags who rally and ready themselves for another charge.

After a brutal fight Ensign Riems and his sailors are wiped out by the Black Flags. (the French casualties can be seen to the upper left).

Combined rifle and machinegun fire halts the Red and Green Boxers on the rough hillock.

Victory on the left stalemate in the middle what does the future hold for the Boxers?
