The Scout

In-hee-mse is a scout of some repute in the Bush Country.  His excellent tracking skills and ability to avoid trouble with the "locals" assure his constant employment.

In-hee-mse is a 28mm metal piece from Foundry, I have a little touch up to do still before he appears in a future shot.

When a big gun is too much-use a mountain gun

The light "mountain gun" was a popular artillery piece during the smoothbore era.

In 3 to 6 pdr sizes, it's light weight, in comparison to full size pieces, gave it exceptional maneuverability in every climate and terrain.

Compact, but with a fearsome close quarters bite, the mountain gun was a positive addition to troops that would otherwise be armed only with sidearms, muskets and hand weapons.

The pirate from Privateer Press gives a good idea as to the relative small size of this mountain gun.

Rooi Matroos, pirate, pressman and top sailor is not a man to let behind you as he is always looking for new hands.

 

His block and tackle are for new hands, while his massive two handed sword is for more serious discussions.

One Way to Make a Point!

The balista was the Ancient World's final word on sniper fire.

With ranges up to 300 meters, the deadly bolts fired from these weapons were used to both hit individuals as well as to smash defences and demoralise defenders in siege attacks.

Less useful in fluid battles, they were no the less a deadly tool in well trained armies and could harass the enemies formations before closing to hand to hand combat.
