Being a Rear-Guard is Hell

Fighting a rear-guard action is never easy especially when there are only three of you. These American soldiers are giving their best to buy time for the rest of their unit to withdraw.
 

And then its run like hell to get back to the rest of the men in one piece more or less. 

These are plastic pieces I painted in January.

Soviet DP-27 "Record Player" Light Machine Gun

This Soviet LMG team is armed with the famous DP-27 7.62mm light machine gun nicknamed the Record Player due to the unusual top loading magazine.

With a 550 round per minute rate of fire and an effective range of 800 meters (875 yards) it gave need firepower to the Soviet infantry formations. Over 795,000 units were produced. 

While developed in the late 1920's some pieces examples have been found in battle in the 21st century (some are reported to be seeing action in the Ukranian war currently being fought).

Missing is not an Option

Jaqueline Tirer d' Arc never wastes a shot, she can' afford too in the Dystopian Future as her life literally depends on her accuracy. 
 

When the situation calls for drastic measures, one shot, one kill is the only way to survive.

The largely silent nature of her bow is an added bonus when she is on the "hunt."  The .445 automatic she carries on her hip is a last resort defense, she has yet to use.

Jaqueline never asked for this type of life, but now she does what is needed to survive.

Vietnam 1962-the Advisors Phase

Armed with the reliable .45 cal. M3 Submachine Gun, popularly known as the "Grease Gun," this American Advisor has taken an active part in an Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) patrol. In the last years of the Eisenhower Administration some 700 US military advisors were active in South Vietnam. In 1962, the new Kenedy Administration sent an additional 500 to assist the ARVN. 
 

With continuing requests for more advisors and support personal from the South Vietnamese Government and US military, the numbers of American forces committed grew steadily, reaching 11,000+ by the end of 1962. To that date 53 US military personnel had be killed in Vietnan.

Within a year the number of American service personnel in Vietnam had reached 16,000 and the next phase of US escalating the war into full combat involvement was on the near horizon.

This is a kit bashed plastic piece I painted in January.

Bazooka Team-On the Double

This two-man bazooka team has to double time it to the next position to get set to stop the next enemy assault.

The 2.36-inch (60 mm) bazooka was a game changer in giving the bloody infantry the ability to stop enemy armor. The rocket propelled projectile originally was designed to penetrate 3 inches (76 mm) of armor, while later variants upped the penetration to 4 inches (102 mm). 

By the end of the war the 2.36 inch struggled to defeat the latest tank designs and was soon replaced by the 3.5-inch (90 mm) "Super Bazooka" that was used in the next major conflict, the Korean War.

This team is plastic that I put together and painted in January.

I completed 56 pieces in January. Most were plastic, some metal and one resin. The IJN Noshiro was the only naval piece.  The other Japanese piece was a 15th century Samurai.
