For God and Country

Two companies of Parliamentary musketeers, covered in dust from a long march on dry roads, stand ready to fight for their God and England.

Armed with short range matchlock muskets, these men would give covering firepower to the pikemen who were the main infantry shock force of the army.

The red dots identify these as the 2nd and third companies, the first company was the pike unit while the colonel would have the flag without dots.

These 25mm metal pieces are 1970's pieces from Minifig and Hinchcliffe. They are not up to the quality design and larger size of modern pieces, but they were a lot cheaper in those days and fun to paint.

Wine-the Soldiers True Friend

Milano Guardia, Capitano Piccolo Granduomo checks the sentries watching over the wine supply for his garrison.

The wine is of crucial importance to the Capitano as he realizes that while an army marches on its stomach it's the wine that makes the march bearable.  The guards will be held accountable for every drop, the Capitano makes that point very clear.
These are all plastic pieces from the older Warhammer Empire line. I painted them (a total of thirteen men) in the late 1990's.

Ready Aim...

Auslöser Totauge and his compatriot pirate, Guntar Blastmer take careful aim with their muskets knowing the captain pays an extra silver mark for each enemy they drop in battle.
Both Auslöser and Guntar are metal pieces from the Privateer Press Pirate Mercenary Line.

Gauls on a Raid-WIP

Until their conquest by Caesar's Legions, the warriors of Gaul were a bitter thorn in the side of Rome. Here are the latest batch of barbarian Gauls in stages of painting as they get ready to join their fellows I have already finished.
These are plastic and 28mm metal pieces from Warlord Games. I especially like the warrior in the front left wearing the helmet of a vanquished Roman Legionnaire.

Two Swords are better than One

With swords flashing, Thyra, Flame of Sorrow, Menoth warcaster races into battle.

While Thyra is a master of mystic an techno powers, she is also a deadly swordswoman.

Know for her fearlessness in battle, Thyra is a warcaster every general is happy to have on their side.

Yep, Dead-But I Kept My Gold

A pirate never wants to loose his gold, and Alt Gebeine is no different as he hold tight to his ill gotten gains. His left had hold his rusting pistol ready to protect his loot.

Well actually there is the slight difficulty that Alt is in fact dead and a pile of "old bones" but its the principle of the thing as Alt would say-if he could that is.
Alt is a plastic piece from Safari Limited and is big compared to most 28mm pieces. Even so he is quite suited as a background piece or creature feature for lots of game scenarios.

Four Eyes-No Problem

A big rifle for big game-the worlds best pastime for outdoors man Bamse Roonveld. Squinting down the iron sights at his latest target is his biggest thrill.

Bamse Roonveld's favorite rifle is his specially made high powered .475 bolt action, powerful enough to drop the most dangerous big game.

Having used glasses (and being constantly teased as "four eyes") his whole life, they offer no hindrances to his marksmanship, a skill at which he is quite deadly.
Bamse Roonveld is a 28mm metal piece from Foundry.

Musket for Hire

Auslöser Totauge has spent a lifetime perfecting his marksmanship with his musket. Originally a marine in the Queens service, Auslöser decided that the greater financial rewards of being a pirate-mercenary was more to his liking.
Auslöser is a metal piece from Privateer Press.

Ouch that's got a hurt!

"Remember grandfather cover your self when the Romans throw their pil...ohh too late!"

The Roman Pilum was a deadly weapon when in the hands of a well trained legionnaire. This unfortunate barbarian warrior has found this out first hand.
These barbarians are plastic/metal 28mm pieces from Warlord Games.

Dead Eye Guntar

Guntar Blastmer takes steady aim with his musket at his latest victim. A deadly shot, Guntar's services are well appreciated by his captain and have earned him the nickname "Dead Eye Guntar."

To be an expert marksman, Guntar had to master shooting from both a stable platform and from one moving with the variances of the sea waves. This Guntar has perfected to a tee so much so that nothing pleases him more than to stand in the rolling rigging and take aim upon some foe below.
Gunthar is a metal piece from Privateer Press' Warmachine Mercenary line.

The Wolf Stalker

Armed with his massive sword and a major attitude, the Wolf Stalker Rky-Kll is a foe few wish to face.

As a member of the forces of the Circle of Orboros, the Wolf Stalker is used to face off with the warmachines and beasts of the enemies of the forests.

The Wolf Stalker is a massive metal piece from Privateer Press.

Bush Master

Field Commandant Olaf Burkson has lived his life in the Bush hunting big game and fighting natives and Imperial soldiers foolish enough to infringe upon his lands. His ability to strike with lightening speed and then disappear into the Bush has his opponents calling the White Ghost.

Olaf is proud of the fact that the men of his commando have chosen him as their field commandant. His experience, leadership and concern for those he leads is well known and is building up the legend of the "Blanke Gees van die veld"
Olaf is a 28mm metal piece from foundry.

Real Warriors Show Off Their "Pecks!"

Dracian raiders are proud of their heritage, and muscles, as this group shows while attacking the Roman frontier.

Fearless or foolish for not wearing armor matters not to these warriors when their blood lust is up.  Light wounds go unnoticed when the fighting is hot!

Seeing more enemies these fighters set off to join they fellows in battle.

As more and more men join the attack the tide of battle turns to favor the bold and brave.

Raiders cared little for their own safety, battle, loot and glory were the goals of these barbarian warriors.
The last in line seems to say "Come and join the fight" as the hoard moves forward. These pieces are 28mm barbarian plastic and metal figures from Warlord Games.

Wolf Stalker WIP

The Wolf Stalker is a massive metal piece form Privateer Press

It was a suprise as to how well it fit and how little green stuff was needed to patch gaps.

Black primer, bronze and pewter first coats are on.

Bones and cloth have inital coats as does the brown basing.

The 28mm pirate gives a bit of scale as to how big the Wolf Stalker is, the blade of his sword alone is as long as a 28mm figure.
